CNY Day 1 - Balik Melaka

My 2nd aunty only have 1 day leave on CNY, so we only went back Melaka for a day. Just to visit eldest aunty & youngest aunty at there.
My cousin sis has prepared many cookies too.
Some of my cousin's creations: pineapple cookie, kuih bawang cookie, green bean cookie, cornflakes cookie, flower shape butter cookie, fried tofu sesame cookie, muruku, etc.
Today's lunch was full of meat dishes instead of vegetarian dishes. So for next year's CNY, we requested to cook all the available vegetables in their garden.

Gong Xi Fa Cai! The sweets look so tempting. I'm hungry already looking at it, especially the flower-shaped butter cookies. I would like to try making that myself. Will it be possible for you to find out from your cousin how to go about making those flower-shaped butter cookies? Thank you in advance.

I'm also not sure how to make the cookies. Let's see whether I can ask my cousin later.

briefly, it requires egg yolk, cake flour, butterfly brand flour, butter, c.tard flour... All mix together, put into the flower shaped plate, bake about 15mins.

Thank you for asking your cousin. So this is a mix of 3 flour types?
1) Cake flour - is this softasilk brand?
2) Butterfly brand flour - is this all purpose flour?
3) C. tard four - do you mean corn starch?
Does she have the proportion for the mixture? I tried baking some today and the recipe I used did not require eggs. As I ate them, I became more and more confused (funny but true)because I'm trying to get the taste of this specific CNY cookie I used to love so much as a kid. I haven't eaten it in years so I became concern that the more botched baking I do, the more I forget the taste of how it should be!

Hi Kate,

Not sure you can get below ingredients:
- 100g Cake Flour (Blue Key brand)
- 150g Flour
- 75g Cuftard Flour (Corn Flour)
- 50g Butterfly brand corn flour
- 100g Sugar flour
- 1 egg yolk
- 250g Butter
Mix above, pour into flower shaped plate add the red jerry. Then bake for 15mins.

I also haven't tried b4, hope this help.

Yan Ting,
I took a closer look at the ingredients and realized that I won't be able to find Cuftard brand corn flour and Butterfly brand corn flour to bake the cookies. :( Bummer! Also, the Blue Key cake flour is going to be a problem too. I can't believe I'll be cookie-less. :(
