Charity Night

We unpacked the books & DVDs out from the boxes for the opening stock checking.

Today our mission - Sell out all the DVDs of this drama - 'I Love Mei Jing' (A true story of the teacher Mei Jing (US Dollar) on how she taught her students and family). Starred by Taiwanese 锦绣二重唱's 琇琴:

The night was held at Cheras PGRM, Dewan Wawasan. Map briefing:

Put up all the DVDs on the table (round 1):

Displaying the sales product required techniques too, not just laying them down but put them stand up. Added a plant next to it (round 2):

Still not satisfied? Combined 2 products together (round 3):

Our 2nd mission was to promote this DVD (also based on true story):

All the dramas from the TV station are based on real stories from real life, should be very touching.

The actress of 'I Love Mei Jing' (琇琴) and the real person of the grand old lady (美金) from the drama were invited to the Charity night. We went into the hall after everyone went in:

Whoever bought their DVDs could attend their autograph session:

My friend, Full Moon (named after she was born on Lunar calender 15th Aug), really bought her DVD -_-" and signed by the actress & real person:

Teacher Mei Jing (琇琴):

Fans photograph session:

By end of the night, Sheau Yuan also bought the DVD as a birthday present for her sister. Although asking people to buy the DVDs but myself didn't even have watched the drama or buy the DVD, LOL :)

Bali Trip Day 3

[23 Jun 2011] Today the places that Agung brought us, all were very nice. First we visited to Taman Ayun:

Group photo at Taman Ayun:

Most of the temples in Bali were in this kind of roof style. We spent quite a long time to take photo at here:

Then Agung recommended us a nice restaurant - Pacung:

The food here was nice (buffet style):

The environment was very nice too, at a hill top, quite cooling:

After lunch, we headed to Ulun Danu Temple in Bedugul:

Coincidence there was ceremony held:

Colourful decoration in the ceremony + Blue sky:

Nice cooling weather at Beratan Lake:

The clouds, mountain and cooling weather made me felt like being in Switzerland (although I haven't been b4):

I particularly like this little bridge on the water:

Next destination - Tanah Lot:

This temple is very special because it's built on the sea:

The greenery rocks beside the sea and its wave:

Walked to another side on the hill top to watch the sunset. Seeing from the cliff, felt like being in Great Ocean Road?

Sat down here while waiting sunset in Tanah Lot:

I like the sea wave, it's huge, hardly could see in Msia:

It's recommended to buy souvenir while you're in Tanah Lot, much cheaper and already labeled with low price, no need to bargain anymore :) Tonight Agung brought us to Chinese restaurant - Tea House:

The food was quite nice too.

Volunteering on Scholarship Home Visiting

What can do on a meaningful Sunday morning? This Sunday I was free, so I followed my senior volunteers to do the Scholarship Home Visiting. The project was just started for a month and lack of volunteers to do it. We must check as many applications as possible by visiting to the houses of applicants, to make sure your money is donated to the right people.

Within one morning, my group of 4 volunteers managed to visit 3 houses. We used GPS to find the houses. While investigating from one house to one house, the situation of one house was more worst than another house.

House A's Student:
Monthly Salary:
RM1500 (Father only)
Family Member: Dad, Mum, applicant & 2 siblings.
Dad & Mum are healthy. 2 childrens are good in study. Mum just gave birth a baby this month, using breastfeeding to save cost. 5 family members rent a room (RM150). Father walks to work, no need transportation fees. One children walks to school, another children by bus (RM1 per day), tuition fee (RM40). Monthly food expenses for family (RM400). Electricity/Water bill (RM30).
Application: Reject (They still can survive).

House B's Student:
Monthly Salary: RM450 (Mother only)
Family Member: Dad, Mum, applicant & 2 siblings.
Dad's leg is swollen because of very bad diabetes, nobody hired. No socso, no EPF. He showed his legs that it's coming out watery liquid. Dad has free medical check up. Mum is working as cook. Monthly food expenses requires RM400. Transport fee for one kid (RM1 per day by bus), no extra money for tuition. Pocket money for one kid (RM1 per day). House rent RM150 (Already 7 months haven't paid). Dad's brother once a month will visit them and gave RM50. Monthly electricity/water bill is roughly RM30. House no TV. Suggested to apply Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) and OKU.
Application: Approve (Living expenses are more than salary).

House C's Student:
Monthly Salary: RM100 (Mother only. Yes, it's one hundred)
Family Member: Mum, applicant & 2 siblings.
Dad is missing (alcoholic), rather not finding him as he gave problems to the family. Mum is having severe diabetes, no ability to work. She sometimes went to recycle center to separate resources and get the money to feed the 3 kids. Luckily her neighbours are willing to help her, giving them food, bringing her to hospital. Neighbour helped to cover her room rental (RM150). Suggested to apply Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) which is opposite the general hospital that she's visiting.
Application: Approve (No ability to work, somemore with 3 kids).

By seeing how bad the situation is, this scholarship application is just RM200 per student (1 time off) for next year school opening to buy their books, school clothes, school fees and other study expenses only. We have to give up some people because the donations are limited and they are more people who needs it. Hopefully the children can have education and get a better job in the future to change their situation.

Bali Trip Day 2

[22 Jun 2011] Morning buffet breakfast had variety of choices:

Variety of fruit juices (apple, orange, guava, mango, etc):

Agung & his driver came to pick up 6 of us from the hotel:

Reached Batubulan for the Barong & Kris Dance (1hr drama):

The show was kinda funny, it's worth watching:

Then headed for buffet lunch at a restaurant in Mount Batur, Kintamani:

The food was so so as it's not hot enough:

The weather around Mount Batur was nice & cool.

The people here were very aggressive in selling souvenirs to the tourists. We kept ourselves busy to take photos to ignore them.

Took a group photo of the Mount Batur before leaving:

Reached Tegallalang, Ubud. It's where Julia Roberts shot the film of Eat Pray Love:

Too bad that it's not so GREEN at this season:

Ubud is famous for selling art craft. You can get cheap art craft here:

Nice cooling weather for picnic:

Took a photo with the farmer from the terrace rice paddy field:

Tea time at Ibu Oka, Ubud:

Ibu Oka is famous for its Babi Guling:

It has variety cooking style for Babi Guling. We simply chosed this and it tasted like eating chicken instead of pork?!

The coconut drink that mixed with lemon is so Nice!

Visiting to Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK):

It's kinda windy here:

Nothing so special here, taking photos with the 2 big statue:

Buffet dinner at Beranda's in GWK before back to hotel to rest.

Bali Trip Day 1

[21 Jun 2011] After CJ intro her buddies, here we started the journey. Our flight (AirAsia AK364) was delayed for 1 hour. Around 8pm we arrived Denpasar - Ngurai Rai Airport, Bali.

There were many tourism information & brochures. No worries on getting Bali maps for free.

Tour guide, Agung, was already waited to pick us up at the arrival hall. Mr Agung said: "You come to Bali, you must Enjoy. You are the Boss."

We were transfered to Jimbaran to have seafood dinner before checking-in our hotel at Harris Riverview Kuta Bali.

The food was so-so as the seafood wasn't that fresh. Somemore it's too dark, seems like eating at night during electricity cut-off -_-" Really don't know what we were eating but not bad trying to eat at seaside at a sandy beach :)
