Fireworks in my neighbourhood

I live opposite of the stadium that always have fireworks but today wasn't from the stadium, it's from the neighbourhood where one house had their house warming until 11:15pm.

The sound shocked me and triggered me to take my camera where I just charged it for our treasure hunt event.

Souvenir from Kota Kinabalu

Janet was back from her 3D2N trip of KK. She remembered to buy us souvenirs. It's key ring, it had several animal patterns such as turtles. I picked the monkey:

Farewell Dinner for David at Italiannies

It's David's farewell dinner at Italiannies in The Gardens. Same as the T.G.I. Friday that the food in Italiannies are big in portion, so we shared the food together. It has the promo of 2 Course Meal for RM27.90.

Is Italian food always serve with tomatoes? This is the appetizer - Toasted Bruschetta (marinated tomatoes, pesto sauce & parmesan cheese above Tuscan bread):

Another appetizer - Pizza Caprese (tomatoes on top of the thin crust pizza). Tomatoes again! but I like tomatoes. The pizza was too plain:

Parmesan Crusted Fish. Like the fried zucchini and red onion strings below the fish more than the fish itself:

Shrimp Linguine, counted that it had 8 little prawns on top with marinara sauce. Tomato again:

The ordinary Roasted Chicken with Balsamic Glaze, just ordinary ;)

David came by to take photos with all of us:

Ground Breaking

Sheau Yuan told me that her charity foundation had successfully raised the building fund and got the construction approval after negotiating in the last 6 years. She registered to attend the Ground Breaking Ceremony(动土典礼), I was welcome too. They already had one building in Malacca and another in Penang. This time the building will be in KL, somewhere opposite Carrefour Kepong. It should be ready in 3 years time.

Today's Malaysia day and it's also a holiday. We arrived at the construction ground at 7am and had the breakfast that they prepared. There were 8 media press and the ceremony will be broastcasted live to their TV station around the world. The foundation was originated from Taiwan and today the VIPs were flying over to attend this ceremony.

It was started with chinese kindergarden kids waiving their little hands and running to the center of the land, followed by the malay kids. The adult children brought the kids to form a circle and started their sign language dance. Higher level volunteers marched slowly for one round, bringing the building architecture model. After some speeches from VIPs, then started the ground breaking action using their golden spades.

Free gift at the end of the ceremony (Bamboo bank & 250ml cup):

It's the 5th year of Bookfest 2010 in KLCC Convention Centre. This year it started on 4th Sept until 12 Sept during school break & Raya holidays.

Same as every year, it's more on Chinese books from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia that occupied 1 - 5 Halls.

The book that I bought on last month also haven't finished, now I bought another. All the books here were selling with discount.

I simply bought a book written by this Taiwanese writer, 吴淡如. The book titled as 每一次相遇都是奇迹 (translated as Every Encounter is Miracle).

After 20% discount, it's RM23.20:

She had been preparing this book for 5 years and it was first published in February 2010.

September Bday Babies' Celebration in La Gomera

It's "Loh Yuen Huat" birthday again. This name is combined with the names from the 3 birthday babies - Hui Ying, Ong & CWH.

La Gomera is a newly open restaurant that offers Spanish buffet:

We booked our e-voucher from MyDeal.com.my to get the half price of RM29.95.

The combination of the toasted garlic bread with the food on top is delicious.

I forgot to taste this plate after taking the photo:

The little portion of food makes me wanna try them one by one.

Ong stood at this lobster salad for long, just to pick up the meat of lobster that mixed with the salad:

The boiled prawns were tasteless but fresh:

The look of the tiny bread looks so tempting:

More food at the side such as spanish cooked beef, lamb, fish, etc:

We arrived earlier than the September babies and started to eat our 1st round while waiting them ^^

You can order the food from the kitchen:

They had prepared little empty bowl for you to put in the clips given to your table to make order:

Later on, our La Gomera pizza was arrived:

Cheese baked oysters were so-so only because it's still watery at the bottom of the shell:

Before we left, we filled up our stomach with desserts & ice-cream, nothing special on the dessert.

Volunteering on Charity Day

The 1st Sunday of every month is the Charity day of a charity society. Due to this weekend was crashing with 2 large events(Bookfest & Matta fair) in the city, they had less people volunteering to help out. Sheau Yuan called me up and invited me to join their Charity day.

This is my 2nd time joining their Charity day. From 8:30am to 10:15am, the experienced volunteers shared their experiences/stories while helping the victims of certain cases. Today one of the volunteers telling the story of their group on helping a poor lonely old lady who stayed in an old wooden house near to cemetery.

Then from 10:15am to 12:30pm, all of us were divided into group of 4 or 5 ppl and headed to the houses of victims. The mooncake festival will be coming soon, organic mooncakes were distributed to certain groups in order to distribute to the victim houses.

This time I followed to visit the house that the person was attacked with backbone sickness which he could not walk but need to lay down on the bed most of the time. The seniors told us that we must stand near to him if talking to him as he could not turn his head to view us. They said this victim was a special one as he was an optimistic person. So, our seniors shared their travelling stories in Japan with the victims and he was quite happy we visited him. Seniors asked him if he had any thoughts on mooncake festival, he wished us "但愿人长久". He later on need us to help him on some letters. For this house, we only give out "love & helping hand" instead of money. After the house visiting, we were back for report writing and dismissed.
