Souvenir from New York

Ming Li was sent to Waterloo, Canada, for training/working for 1 month. Then she extended her stays for another 2 weeks to travel around. She managed to visit Vincent, our ex-colleague, in New York. They bought us some food & I got a souvenir key ring too:

On Duty at Kiara Resort

Only Coco was taking in charge of the arrangement of AGM at Bukit Kiara Resorts. So coincidence that YWH was on leave today for his big day of marriage registration.
So I need to be here for IT support standby.

Coco made sure the conference hall was ready before the shareholders came in.

Volunteering at Recycle Point

Today my blog is full of rubbish. Yes, because of working as volunteer at one of the recycle point at my area. When I reached there, Sheau Yuan was already busy separating the plastic with other materials.

I find that I'm not educated enough about recycling. I was not sure the rubbish was belongs to which category and what could not be recycled, then I sometimes will seek advice from other volunteers.

By looking at the sign board pictures, I hope I didn't mix the material wrongly -_-"

I smashed the most aluminium cans in my life today =p

Maybe last night the residents watched the World Cup till late night, there were less people passing by to give us the recycle materials in the early morning but reaching 10am+ it's normal again.

Please rinse the bottles or glasses cleanly before sending to the recycle point to ease their job.

Are these the things you use normally? You can send for recycle:

The polystyrene could not be processed, all have to become rubbish. The plastic bag which contains silver colour material sticking on it (e.g.: instant noodle season packet, some biscuit packet, oats packet, some sweets packet, etc) also could not be processed in our country yet bcoz we still don't have the machine. The volunteers told me their branch in Taiwan is able to send them to process because the country has the technology.

Please wash the old clothes before sending to the recycle point. There was one guy bought his wet dirty shoe over, we had to throw it away because of hygiene issue. There were new clothes still with price tag too.

For paper material, we will separate it into 4 categories: newspaper, black & white paper, colour paper and hard paper (e.g.: boxes). Black & white paper will need less chemical during recycling compared to colour paper. Some residents packed their papers mixing in all these 4 categories, so we had to filter them again. Some envelopes mixed with plastic that we'd to tear them out too.

All the recycle points are held once a month of 3rd Sunday only, 8am - 11am. By 11am, 3 lorries came by to pick up our recycle materials to send over to the factory. Beside of environmental issue, the money that earn from recycling will become the fund for the charity organisation too ^_^

I don't really follow the FIFA World Cup, so as the rules of football. Kim stopped by my workstation......

Kim: Argentina and Korea. Who do you guess will win?
Me: Of course is Argentina la~
Kim: Ok, I want the exact score, how many vs how many?
Me: erm...... 4 - 1, lah~
Kim: The pool doesn't hav this column. Ok, I go ask them add in this.
Me: You buy la~ will win -_-
The Next Day......
Kim: Argentina : Korea (4 -1)! Today let's go E&C, I treat.

Lunch with Kim, TLA & GANKS at ChiLLax (A Place to Chill & Relax):

Friday special: nasi lemak + free drink.

I think it should be my 2nd time visiting this restaurant eventhough I'd been working around this area for so long.

Following the volunteers

After moving to Bukit Jalil for half a year, get to know from Sheau Yuan, who stayed in Jalil Damai, there's a charity organisation near my area that I could follow her to work as volunteer too.

Early in the morning, she came to fetch me. Since the organisation had been receiving donations from public but they could not simply distribute the money without understanding the needs of the poor. That's why we were here to visit the poor and understand what we could provide or help them out. After the grouping, I just followed my group of 5 people. I saw they were putting 2 packets of 1KG rice, oil & some other things into the car boot. Then we were given 1 hour to visit one house among the cases. The things that they packed were bought according to what that family needs. They talked to the poor and investigate whether they really still need the help, is their situation getting better or worst.

After 1 hour of investigation & proves gathering, we were back to write out the report in group. Each group needs to provide some ideas, as I got no idea how to think out a solution, so I just do the writing =p The house visiting is carried out in the morning of the first Sunday of each month only, rotating in teams. That's mean each month each team will be visiting different houses. So, if I'm free, could tell Sheau Yuan to register for the next house visiting. She told me they were also working as volunter in 3 recycle point near my area, if I could come over to help them on the third week of Sunday morning every month.

Today is a holiday. While I was Facebook-ing, playing my Cafe World, Daisy called up. So we went to The Curve together.

The RM1.50 take away ice cream from Theobroma Chocolate Lounge is cheap & nice, with crispy chocolote spread on top. Daisy said it used to be RM1.

Photo together:

Stopped by Pan Mee shop for lunch. Nice little tea pot (RM3):

We took the same food - Mushroom Pan Mee (RM7.90):
